On Sunday 5 March 2017 at 11:00am AHEPA NSW INC in co-operation with the Pan-Epirotiki Association of NSW, is hosting a Community Day at the Bexley Bowling Club, corner of Edward and Oliver Streets Bexley North. Entry is $10 per person with food and drink available for purchase at very reasonable prices.

A five-piece traditional band from the Epiros region of north-western Greece will be the main entertainment, featuring clarinet, lute, violin and tambourine, with Sydney’s own Tommy Tsomis also performing on bouzouki.

AHEPA and the Pan-Epirotiki Association invite everyone to enjoy a lunch including freshly BBQed souvlaki, grilled haloumi cheese, hot chips and salad with drinks at club prices, dancing to the band playing live and relaxing in a refreshing environment. In the park across the road, there is a wonderful playground for the younger ones.

The AHEPA Community Day is a celebration with many purposes. First, to enable the neighbours to learn about the Australian Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, an 82-year-old organisation heavily involved in cultural, philanthropic and educational activities. Second, to farewell the old Bowling Club building, to thank the Club members and associates for their cooperation and support. Third, to introduce to AHEPA members and associates the property that is our new home.

Most importantly, the Community Day hopes to raise funds in support of the AHEPA NSW Education Committee. All profits will go in support of the Committee’s project to expand the Teaching Hellenic through tablet computers’ to Earlwood and Clemton Park Public Schools. In operation at Sans Souci Public School since Term 4 2015, the success of the program has other public schools lining up to join.

The AHEPA Community Day is open to everyone, especially the neighbours. Consider it a big housewarming party in support of a good cause. Hellenic food and music in a community setting in a great part of the St George district.
